My wife, Amelia and I found our way into the cloth-diapering world by accident. Our past experience with diapers was like today’s majority… “Disposables”. We happened to be in a baby store and saw a clearance area. While we wanted everything that was “the best” for our new daughter we didn’t mind saving a little too. What we found that day open our minds to a new idea of how we would care for our baby. They had a very expensive European cloth diaper kit from birth to potty training at 70% off. Within a month we would be ahead without the expense of buying disposables. We thought at this price we would give it a try. Liking the idea of not adding to waste in the landfills, having our daughter lie in chemicals 24/7 and saving money all at the same time. My wife said that she was okay with the added laundry and I thought if this was a way to give our daughter a healthy diapering existence then I was onboard too.

Little did we know that our fancy kit was just a basic way to cloth diaper. It contained what is called prefolds and diaper covers in various sizes. We practiced folding the cloth-diaper so that we would be ready for the big day. That began our search online for the proper way to fold the diaper. Then our eyes opened to a whole new world. Yes, prefolds and covers may be the least expense way to diaper, but it isn’t the easiest. Many websites showed other options to cover our daughter. But which would work the best for our family? Many hours were spent searching online. We bought several types from several different companies. Some how the money saving part wasn’t as great as we had hoped trying to find “the best”.

Like I said, we used disposable with our other children so we liked the convenience of a disposable. Just change and go. But cloth diapering has changed. Many companies now make cloth diapers that change out similarly like disposables. As a man, I like that. There are also hybrids that have a liner that are disposable. These are great for traveling. But we didn’t know this when we started. Time and money would have been saved if we had found Diaper Parties sooner. We would of liked to see and feel the options. That is why we are passionate about sharing our experience and opening the idea of cloth diapering to other couples. All with ease of Diaper Parties right at your front door.
