My name is Patricia, and I am the proud and busy mother of fraternal twins, Freddie and Frankie. They were born in Nov 2009, and have made my life a complete whirlwind of chaos, joy, and love. Before becoming a mommy I went to Occidental College in LA, and graduated with a degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs. After college I went into the coffee business, owning and managing a variety of coffee shops. In 2007 I married my husband Fritz and we decided to raise a family in this crazy city, full of cars and pollution, but also natural beauty and a diversity of people. As a family, we are a sight to see: me, 5 foot nothing, Fritz, 6'5", and both of us with a baby strapped to our bodies. We never can get out of the house without people making comments. Fortunately, the babies like the attention.

As if we didn't stand out enough, we are also constantly being asked about our cute diapers. We have been cloth diapering the twins since the day they came home from the hospital. For me, the choice was clear between chemical-laden disposable diapers and bum-friendly cloth. Convincing my husband was another story. He couldn't imagine dealing with 2 newborns and all of the laundry at the same time. When I told him about the cost savings, he reconsidered. Now that he has become a pro he likes to tell people about how easy and inexpensive cloth diapers really are. As for the laundry, it's no big deal. I run 3 extra loads a week. Besides, the machine is really doing most of the work.

I've had a great experience with cloth diapers, even with twins. When I consider that I would have spent $2000 and up on disposable diapers (times 2!), I know I've made the right decision with cloth. I've only spent about $600 from birth to potty training for 2 babies. The savings is helping me to be a stay at home mom.
