I live right outside Kenosha, Wisconsin with my husband Adam and our 18 month old spunky daughter, Juliana. We have been cloth diapering Juliana since she was born back in December of 2009. A friend of mine had been cloth diapering for a few months when I became pregnant so I decided to give it a shot. At first our decision to use cloth was an economical one but as I researched more I found out the many MANY reasons why cloth diapering is the way to go.

When you think of cloth diapers I'm sure you think of origami folding, plastic pants and pins, OH THE PINS! Well, fear not; modern cloth diapers are hip, safe, and extremely easy.

The modern cloth diaper is super soft, absorbent and can be just as convenient as disposables but they are far safer for your baby as well as easier on your wallet AND the environment! Just one kid puts up to 2 TONS of waste in a landfill in their disposable diapering lives, multiply that by one baby born a minute and you can see how we're filling our landfills at record pace!

I also found disposable diapers contain a variety of chemicals to maximize absorbency which would be next to my baby’s skin 24 hours a day for the next two years! The chemical is the same that they stopped putting in tampons to avoid toxic shock syndrome yet the same chemical is being used in diapers today. For the safety of my child, our environment and my bank account I made the decision to use cloth and it has been so easy.

Back in May of 2010 I was reading Parenting magazine when I came across an article about Diaper Parties and I immediately knew I wanted to become a consultant to spread my new found knowledge of this wonderful world of cloth diapering. I'm so happy to be part of the Everything Birth family because all the other consultants are amazing, knowledgeable, and fun plus we all have an awesome passion for cloth diapering. We're changing the world, one cloth diaper at a time!
